Rutabagas- 27 Weeks

Last week of the second trimester!
The babies are moving like crazy, especially the little boy. I'm pretty sure he is trying to escape right out my side at times, possibly swinging from my ribs for leverage. He may be an acrobat in training. Standing is getting a little more uncomfortable as I feel more front heavy, but I can still get some what comfortable sitting or laying down. When I think about how front heavy I feel now, I just flash forward in my mind to 10 weeks from now and then I don't feel so bad knowing what is coming. And I have stopped googling images of women who are 36+ weeks pregnant with twins...

This is the last week of school for the kids so we are planning a full summer for them with camps and visiting family. They will all be heading to New Jersey for a couple of weeks in late July so I will get the house to myself. In my head there is a list of things I am looking forward to getting done but who knows what a month from now will look like. I just bought a bunch of soft pretty yarn to make the babies blankets, so I may end up putting my feet of while the kids are away and enjoying the down time with some Netflix binging! It's crazy to think I will be 32 weeks by then and can only imagine how big and active the babies will be. Basically, planning is a nice thought but at this point just winging it works best as the pregnancy progresses. Pretty much how parenting goes in general at times!

Next appointment with Maitri is June 19th for their growth scan and second glucose test.

Feeling: much better than last week! Allergies are still hanging around but not quite as intense. Energy comes and goes but there are days when I have no choice but to go to bed early. We got dark curtains since it stays light out later and Jacob started to question why he has to go to bed before the sun does. Luckily the kids are eating up the snuggle time and going to bed early with me when needed.

Babies: Your babies are about 14.4 inches long and weigh in at about 1.9 pounds.

This week, your babies are probably weighing in at almost 2 pounds. They are sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing their eyes, and perhaps even sucking their fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your babies' brains are very active now. While the lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning – with medical help – if they were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements  to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on.
Most babies this age still like to snuggle in a slightly curled position inside the uterus (thus the term "fetal position"). Their auditory development  (hearing) is progressing as the network of nerves to the ears matures — though the sounds they hear are muffled thanks to the creamy coating of vernix covering them.
