Blueberries - Week 7

Image
We go back in a week for the 8 week ultrasound to make sure the babies are growing right on track. Then I will be transitioning to an OB who will follow the rest of the pregnancy. I have heard good things about the new OB practice and hope they will keep this experience going as  well as it has been so far. Weight : 155 Feeling : Tired but I got my first full 6 hours of sleep last night without waking in the middle of the night. I felt much better in the morning! Mornings are usually the roughest to get going but this morning I felt much better after more sleep. Still not much of an appetite so I keep snacks on me to munch on during the day which helps keep the nausea away. Two ans a half more weeks of medications and hopefully when they end my energy and appetite will return! Babies: Your babies have doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry . Your baby's hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs –...

Two peas in a pod - Week 6

Image
The 6 week ultrasound was yesterday and... there are two babies in there! That may have been the most awkward position I have ever Skyped from but definitely the best Skype call yet! I was waiting for the ultrasound tech to tell me what she was looking at and give us a little warning before she gave us the news but she just jumped right in and said "there's two". I was really hoping she would say that, but also had a slight feeling she was just going to see one after reading feedback from others with initially high betas, so there was some unexpected shock when she spoke. Then she confirmed there were two separate sacs which means that each embryo took and neither one split, good little babes! It has been hard not to constantly research how other women's betas compared to ours and what their outcomes were. I was pretty confidant after the 602 level that there were two in there but I am always the optimist! Baby A's heart rate was 117 and Baby B's heart ra...

Little apple seed(s) - Week 5

Image
One more week until the ultrasound! It could be these babies or a mix of  the -30 degree weather these last few weeks but I am feeling pretty tired half way through the day and am ready for bed by the time I get home. The fun of falling asleep before I am ready means having my lovely coworkers ask why I only have my nails painted on one hand :-) oops! Always an adventure. My appetite has pretty much gone away so I have to remember to snack or the nausea creeps back up when I get hungry. Overall, I am thankful for the little apple seed(s) going easy on me. We make a pretty good team so far! Weight: 156 Symptoms: some nausea and fatigue Cravings: none... not much of an appetite at this point Baby/babies: The size at 5 weeks pregnant is roughly the size of an apple seed and approximately .13 inches in length at this point.  Your baby is now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of his tissues and or...

BETA BETA did you double? BETA #2

Image
So it has been 2 day and I had to go back to the lab for a second blood test. hCG levels should double every 48-72 hours so I was hoping for at least 1200, well 1204 to be exact. I have read that anything over 35% increase  is good but I knew I would feel more comfortable with at least double just to be safe. Especially after googling what high hCG could mean and unfortunately having to learn about molar pregnancies! I got to the lab first thing in the morning and had to wait a bit. The ladies were not quite as friendly as two days ago but they were pretty busy. Then the wait began. I received the call two days ago at 12:30 so I anxiously watched the clock until 1:30 then decided to call the lab. Of course they could not give me my own results (grrrr) so I kindly asked that they fax the results to the clinic asap since they had not done so yet even though the results were in shortly after I left the hospital (double grrrr!) And within a couple of minutes I got the email, than...

What's your number? BETA test #1

Image
By this point, needles have become a close friend and enemy. I used to get light headed just thinking about giving blood. This morning when I walked into the lab for my first BETA test, I offered to draw it myself. That skinny vampire has nothing on the size of the 25 gauge needle that has got up close and personal with my back side every night for the past few weeks. POI's have quickly become a PIMA, literally! Anyway, it looks like our first hCG number is 602! We are PREGNANT! I believe they were aiming for over 100 and I am a bit of an over achiever so it is not a surprise that these little embryos are going full force. I started taking home tests since 4dp5dt and after about 10 minutes a faint line would show up which the nurses told me to ignore since it was out of the "testing window". So I finally got a digital test, checked in the with Dads to see if they wanted to know, and got a big fat "YES", so I was expecting a positive but not such high numbers....
