Plums - Week 12
After waiting two weeks, and checking the patient portal daily waiting on results of the Panorama prenatal screening I finally was called by a nurse and informed the test was not going to work. Apparently the algorithm only allows for three individuals to be involved and cannot be run with more. It was quite frustrating waiting almost two weeks to be given this information when I was expecting results. I was also looking forward to this test since the doctor said they would be able to determine the sex of both babies, and that the other tests could only determine if there was at least one male baby. It was a learning opportunity for the practice who offer this screening to all their patients, and now are aware it cannot be completed for everyone. Of course our situation is a little more unique, but very special for all involved.
Fortunately the nurse assured me it was not too late to complete another test, the QNatal, so I made plans to go first thing tomorrow morning to have more blood work done and hope they can get the results as soon as possible!
Weight: 159.7
Feeling: The nausea is easing up and just comes briefly a couple times a day now which is much better. My energy is increasing, especially during the day. Over the last week I have had headaches most days for a short time, which I read is normal around this time and could be due to hormones. Heartburn comes and goes but that is expected more as organs move around making room for the babies.
Babies: Your babies are about 2.1 inches long and weigh in at about .49 ounces. Now that the babies have pretty much all their important organs, their main job is to keep on growing.
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, toes will curl, eye muscles will clench, and the mouth will make sucking movements.
The intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into the abdominal cavity about now, and the kidneys will begin excreting urine into the bladder.
Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and synapses are forming furiously in your baby's brain. The face looks unquestionably human: the eyes have moved from the sides to the front of the head, and the ears are right where they should be.
