Blueberries - Week 7
We go back in a week for the 8 week ultrasound to make sure the babies are growing right on track. Then I will be transitioning to an OB who will follow the rest of the pregnancy. I have heard good things about the new OB practice and hope they will keep this experience going as well as it has been so far.
Weight: 155
Feeling: Tired but I got my first full 6 hours of sleep last night without waking in the middle of the night. I felt much better in the morning! Mornings are usually the roughest to get going but this morning I felt much better after more sleep.
Still not much of an appetite so I keep snacks on me to munch on during the day which helps keep the nausea away. Two ans a half more weeks of medications and hopefully when they end my energy and appetite will return!
Babies: Your babies have doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.
Your baby's hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs – although they look more like paddles at this point than tiny baby fingers and toes. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.
