Pineapples - 31 Weeks

We have hit the eight month mark! Just 7 weeks to go :-) (49 days!!)

The babies are continuing to move around like crazy. I still feel him more than her as he kicks and jabs while it seems like she just wiggles. Jacob asks about them more, curious about the movement. A couple of days ago he asked "Are your babies sleeping?" and I reminded him they are not mine and we are babysitting, then he said "Oh right, so what school are you going to drop them off at?" His responses always make me laugh a bit, since I am not exactly sure what his understanding is of this.
Less than two weeks and Dave and the kids will be heading to New Jersey to visit family. I am looking forward to getting my craft room organized (finally!) while there are no little hands dismantling my work as I go.
The more I have looked into surrogacy journeys, I have found a lot of information on infertility and rainbow babies (born after a miscarriage, stillborn, or neonatal death, and like a rainbow after a storm). A woman who owns a retail clothing business I purchased a bunch of dresses from to wear during pregnancy shared with me that she was also pregnant with twins, a few weeks behind me. She has previously lost twins and ended up delivering hers this time at 24 weeks and only one survived. She thinks of her a unicorn rainbow baby, that they have been waiting so long for. I have made unicorn blankets in the past for my Etsy shop and felt compelled to make her an infant size one for her little girl, with a rainbow mane of course. It made me realize that during my maternity leave I will have a lot of down time, or at least that's what I am going to tell myself, so I am going to start stocking up on yarn to make rainbow crochet items for others with similar stories. I love to keep my hands busy with a good project and anything that may bring a smile to someone's face is motivation to me!

Next appointment with Maitri is July 17th for their growth scan.

Weight: 175 lbs

Feeling:Pretty good. I can still get into a reasonably comfortable position when lying down. I think there is some slight swelling in my hands and feet, which is normal. My energy level seems better as long as I take it easy and rest as necessary. Bending over is another story, I still forget sometimes that I can't just bend over easily and get abruptly stopped by the belly half way down and squeeze the air out of my lungs at the same time which the kids find hilarious.

Babies: Your babies are about 16 inches long and weigh in at about 3.3 pounds.

The babies are heading into a growth spurt. They can turn their head from side to side, and the arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump up as needed fat accumulates underneath the skin. They are probably moving a lot, too, so take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your babies are active and healthy.
