Mangoes - Week 19
Halfway there! The c-section is scheduled for August 27th around 8:30am.
Babies has their first trip to the west coast. The flights went well and out trip to California was great! The babies have started to kick a bit more and I feel them moving around in there on a more regular basis, especially when I am laying down.
We a bit of a scare halfway through the vacation with some bleeding that seemed heavier than I would except at 19 weeks. I called the OB in Vermont who suggested getting checked out and after five and a half hours at the hospital, we got the all clear to go home on 24 hours bed rest. They think it may have been due to the increase in activity since the placenta looked good, both sacks were intact and my cervix had not shortened. The monitor did show my uterus was a bit irritated, which could have been the extra activity, but I was not having contractions which was another good sign.
We were planning on going for a hike in Armstrong Woods, with the giant redwoods, the following day but since was told to take it easy, I got to stay home with my feet up and read a book I was hoping to finish on our trip so I could not complain! The OB called to check in the next day and said if the bleeding continued, which it did not, to check in when I got back but if not we should be all set, so our next appointment is the 2 hour anatomy scan where we all get to see the babies up close and personal :-)
Weight:??? no scale on vacation!
Feeling: Pretty good and enjoying the rest and family time.
Babies: Your babies are about 6 inches long and weigh in at about 8.5 ounces.
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Their brains are designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that they may be able to hear your voice now. Their arms and legs are in proportion to each other and the rest of her body now. Your baby's kidneys continue to make urine, and the hair on the scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on their skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
